Closing date: 31st July 2021
Interview date: Week commencing Monday 9th August

About Us:

Share your passion for the natural environment, conservation and community.
We are a small environmental charity based in Emsworth, Hampshire. We work to reduce the impact of pollution along our coastlines and in our local countryside, with a particular focus on plastic pollution and waste. We do this through active educational outreach activities into schools and community groups, through beach cleans, suburban and countryside clean-ups, and through engaging with local businesses. Our main geographical area of operations stretches from Southampton, Hants, to Chichester, West Sussex, although we do sometimes operate outside this region.

The Role:

You’ll make an important contribution to educating communities and school groups about plastic pollution in the area of operations by developing and delivering engaging talks, activities and workshops to schools, young people, families and adults. As well as running a range of environmental education sessions, public events and holiday activities and beach cleans, you’ll also deliver other ad-hoc community outreach projects. Building links with other conservation organisations and business partners is an important aspect of the role, and supporting the management team to help seek funding to further develop our programmes and expand your own role. Some evening or weekend work will be required to cover certain events. Initially a 1 year fixed term contract, with potential for extension and increased hours.  Please download the complete job description here.

About You:

Creative, confident and practical, you’re an enthusiastic advocate for protecting, enjoying and conserving our environment and oceans. You will be passionate about the environment with a sound knowledge of the impact of plastic pollution on the coastal environment. Environmental education is a key part of this role, so experience in working effectively with school and community groups is extremely beneficial. You’ll have the energy, drive and organisational skills to make things happen and be a ‘people person’. Experience of working with volunteers is important and would be beneficial.

In return, you will benefit from working with a small and friendly team; some flexibility with working hours, particularly during school holidays; 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays; 3 days a year to use for your own volunteering or ‘give back’ days to your community.

Please apply via email, explaining how you fit the role described and why you’d like to work with us, and include a copy of your CV. A CV alone will not be considered for this role.

We reserve the right to close this vacancy early if we receive a high volume of suitable applicants.
