About Us:
Share your passion for the natural environment, conservation and community.
We are a small environmental charity based in Emsworth, Hampshire. We work to reduce the impact of pollution along our coastlines and in our local countryside, with a particular focus on plastic pollution and waste. We do this through active educational outreach activities into schools and community groups, through beach cleans, suburban and countryside clean-ups, and through engaging with local businesses. Our main geographical area of operations stretches from Southampton, Hants, to Chichester, West Sussex, although we do sometimes operate outside this region.
The Role:
You’ll be an important member of the team helping the core staff to work more efficiently by handling incoming enquiries and ensuring they reach the right team member. You will be required to support the rest of the team with ad-hoc administration activities. You will oversee the social media activity for the charity, creating regular content with support from the team, responding to enquiries through these important channels. The role is part time and centred at the head office in Emsworth, however much of the work can be home-based with regular (weekly or fortnightly) face to face team meetings.
About You:
Creative, confident and practical, you’re a passionate advocate for protecting, enjoying and conserving our environment and oceans. You’ll have the energy, drive and organisational skills to make things happen and be a ‘people person’. You will have excellent attention to detail and fantastic communication skills. While the role is initially 10 hours a week on a 6-month contract, there will be scope to increase this further down the line for the right person if the appetite and need is there. You will need your own transport to attend team meetings.
In return, you will benefit from working with a small and friendly team; 10 hours a week that can be worked flexibly spread over the week; 25 days annual leave (pro-rata) plus bank holidays; 3 days (pro-rata) a year to use for your own volunteering or ‘give back’ days to your community.
Please apply via email to hello@finalstrawfoundation.org explaining how you meet the requirements set out in the person specification and job description. CV’s alone will not be considered for this role. We reserve the right to close this vacancy early if we receive a high volume of suitable applicants.
