What can my business do to help?

There are several things that you can do as a business to reduce the amount of single-use plastic that you use.

  1. Get in touch
Let us know that you are taking part in this initiative and what you are doing to reduce the amount of single-use plastic that you use, as well as any other sustainable initiatives you are implementing. We have a list of all the businesses that are participating on our website and we will also give you a shout out over social media and on our website. You can email us or send us a message through our contact page.
  2. Be proactive!
In 2020 the ban finally came in to stop giving out plastic straws, cotton bud sticks and stirrers in pubs, bars, cafes and restaurants, which is a great step forward. Most people don’t need a straw at all, and we find it’s best to wait until someone asks for one – paper straws look great and are a good option for most people that ask. If someone has a disability, they may still need a plastic straw, so keep a small stock just in case.
  3. It’s not just straws
We would love you to commit to minimising all the single-use plastic that you buy, sell and use. This can mean something as simple as replacing single-use plastic cups at the water-fountain in an office with reusable cups, or encouraging staff to bring reusable bottles or coffee cups to work with them.
  4. Sponsor a 2minbeachclean board, beach cleaning event, beach cleaning equipment, or film screening!
Please contact us about sponsoring an event, sponsoring a beach clean or beach cleaning equipment or co-sponsoring one of the 2 minute beach clean boards.
  5. Come on a company beach clean
If you would like to take part in a beach clean as part of your company’s CSR programme, please get in touch and we will see if we can help. We have run lots of beach cleans with small, medium and large sized businesses, it’s a great way to raise awareness of the plastics-crisis we are facing along our shores. We ask for a voluntary donation to the campaign to help us cover the ongoing costs of our litter pick equipment and insurance, as well as travel costs. Get in touch to find out more.
  6. Shout about it!
Tell your customers. Tell colleagues. Tell other businesses. Spread the word and help us to get the message out. Taking part in this cause is something to be really proud about!
